Technology Blog #4: Becoming a Connected Actor in a Digital World
Chapter 3 of The Connected Educator focuses on building a personal learning network (PLN) and using technology to stay connected and keep learning. The chapter highlights that being a connected learner is not just about understanding information, but about interacting with communities, regularly engaging with other professionals, and sharing ideas. Instead of learning quietly, people grow by collaborating, joining in on conversations, and staying hooked in a network of people who support their progress.
This idea connects directly to my goal of becoming an on-screen actor. Acting requires networking, steady improvement, and visibility, which can all be supported through digital tools. Social media apps like Instagram and TikTok allow actors to build an audience, share their work, and connect with casting directors. By building an online presence and interacting with others in the industry, actors can open doors to opportunities and stay up to date on trends and auditions.
Chapter 3 also points out lifelong learning, which is crucial in acting. Actors must always evolve their skills, whether it’s practicing new techniques or learning from others. Platforms like YouTube and TikTok make it easy to watch performances, gain inspiration, and take virtual classes. Overall, being a “connected actor” means using technology to build relationships that can help accomplish success in the entertainment industry, and to learn and grow.
